Everybody In Program Offers Affordable Pool Access and FREE Youth Programming

CINCINNATI (May 21, 2018) – Program partners, philanthropic donors and the City of Cincinnati are pleased to announce the official start of this summer’s ‘Everybody In’ program at Ziegler Park, which was designed to make pool access affordable to all and to provide free programming to neighborhood youth.

The Everybody In program offers pool season passes on a sliding scale to ensure that no individual or family is excluded based on their ability to pay. The program also makes it possible for Ziegler Park to offer free programming for neighborhood youth, including swim team, swim lessons, Saturday Hoops and summer camp. An event that had originally been scheduled to kick off the 2018 Everybody In program was cancelled this afternoon, due to the threat of inclement weather.

Procter and Gamble (P&G) generously provided operating support to help fund the Everybody In program, and the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) has committed to reimbursing pool pass costs to residents of OCCH-funded Brickstone Properties units and Over-the-Rhine Community Housing (OTRCH) units. Residents of Brickstone Properties and OTRCH units that were not funded by OCCH are eligible to have pool pass costs refunded by The Model Group.

“Without the generosity of donors like P&G and OCCH, the opportunities afforded to the community through the Everybody In program would not be possible,” Christy Samad, Senior Vice President of Event Management at 3CDC, said. “We are thrilled to kick off the summer, and it is our hope that any local child who wishes to participate in our summer programming has the opportunity to do so, and that any family who wishes to belong to the Ziegler Park pool has the opportunity to do so, as well.”

The pool, which was part of a $32 million renovation and expansion of the park completed in 2017, opened with regular summer hours on Saturday – welcoming over 650 visitors throughout the weekend – and will remain open seven days a week through August. It originally opened April 30 this year, with seasonal hours, thanks to a new pump heater. In addition to an extended pool season in 2018, the Everybody In program has been expanded. New this summer, the Everybody In program is offering a swim team at no cost to participants. The program will continue to offer swim lessons and safety clinics free of charge.

Along with pool programming, 3CDC and Youth Hope are once again partnering to provide a summer camp to neighborhood youth. Beginning June 12, summer camp will host 80 local children for various activities three days a week and will also include free breakfast and lunch for campers. Daily activities will include basketball, exercise, swimming, chess instruction, a STEM bicycle club, pollinator garden and more.

The Everybody In program also features Saturday Hoops, which is offered in partnership with Youth Hope Cincinnati. Participants in Saturday Hoops will meet on Saturday mornings for fun, faith and positive role modeling through basketball, art, circuit training, motivational speaking, healthy snacks, lunch and more. Catered to kids from kindergarten up, Saturday Hoops is available to all at no cost.

The Everybody In program is made available for free thanks to the generous support provided by the aforementioned donors, as well as the Kantor Family, Jostin Construction, O’Rourke Wrecking Company, and Interact for Health. Broader programming at Ziegler Park has been made possible through generous contributions from a number of organizations and foundations, including Turner Construction, FC Cincinnati, Kroger Co., The Patricia Kisker Foundation, Molina Healthcare, Hueneke Trust, the Hubert Family, the Stuart Family Foundation, and the John A. Schroth Family Charitable Trust, PNC Bank, Trustee.
