CINCINNATI (October 16, 2019) – Whether you’re looking to pick up a six-pack or enjoy a freshly poured pint on tap, The Standard Beer Shop is gearing up to become the go-to craft beer shop in Over-the-Rhine.

The Standard has signed a lease for a 1,704-square-foot space located at 112 W. 15th St., in Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC)’s Rennen & Beecher Flats development. Owner Brett Gage said the store will sell hundreds of types of craft beer – everything from stouts to IPAs – and a limited selection of wine. The Standard will also offer 16 rotating taps for customers to enjoy a pint or two while they shop.

“The beer selection will be offered in four or six packs as well as individually so you can ultimately mix and match whatever you want,” Gage said.

The shop is expected to open in January 2020. Build-out construction has not started yet. Breaking from the traditional bar atmosphere, The Standard will implement a coffee shop-like setting that mixes retail with a bar and lounge vibe. The space will feature a “Scandinavian-esque design” that pairs black, white and grey elements with blonde wood features, Gage said.

Gage said the shop fulfills a need in the community. Instead of driving to Party Source or Jungle Jim’s to find unique craft beer, residents will be able to find what they want right in Over-the-Rhine.

“It’s just going to be a place where we serve good beer to good people in a laid-back environment,” he said.
