October 2016 Project Update

4TH & RACE

The demolition of the former Pogue’s Garage, at the corner of 4th & Race streets has progressed nicely. The south portion of the garage is completely demolished, and crews have essentially finished the major demo of the skywalk above Race Street. THE ALLISON

Formerly known as the Race Street Condos, the Allison (a portion of the broader 15th & Race project), continues to move closer to completion, as crews do various work throughout the building. In mid to late November, asphalt will be poured for a new rear parking lot, which will be reserved for condo owners in the new building.

EMPOWER MEDIAMARKETING

At the future home of Empower MediaMarketing, crews finished installing Geopiers – the deep foundation system used to stabilize the existing soil – in early October, allowing work to begin on the shallow building foundations. In addition, shoring around the four exterior walls of the historic Hukon Building is underway, which will allow for the demolition of the interior of the structure to start in early November. Steel fabrication has also started, and installation will begin in late November.

MEMORIAL HALL

Crews continued to make excellent progress on the Memorial Hall renovation throughout October. New hardwood floors have been installed in both ballrooms, and the theater’s chairs have been reinstalled.
