MUSIC HALL
Although Music Hall will be open for performances until May 2016, work in various areas of the building is already underway. In the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s office space, asbestos abatement has been completed and demolition has started. Abatement is currently ongoing in the paint shop and basement. Elsewhere in the building, temporary restrooms are being constructed in the north- and south-side circulations, to supplement the restrooms lost due to construction activities. In addition, exploratory demolition in specific areas around the hall is sporadically taking place, to help inform construction and design. And, soil reinforcement is ongoing in both the north and south carriageways, to provide structure for the future home of new restrooms and mechanical spaces.
ZIEGLER PARK
As 3CDC continues fundraising in an effort to close the $3.9 million funding gap for the Ziegler Park renovation, construction on the Park’s new underground garage is scheduled to begin this month. To date, the private fundraising effort has been buoyed by a generous $500,000 contribution from the Kantor/Knue/Mattis family and a $30,000 grant awarded through the Ohio Capital Impact Corporation’s Place-Based Strategies Fund. In addition, the project has received $10 million in funding from the City of Cincinnati, as well as New Markets Tax Credit allocation commitments from four organizations – the Cincinnati New Markets Fund (CNMF), Cincinnati Development Fund, The Community Builders, and Capital One.
