Graeter’s Begins Work on Over-The-Rhine Location

New “ice cream only” store first to feature new branding elements

CINCINNATI – October 29, 2013 – Cincinnati’s most iconic ice cream will soon be available in its most iconic historic neighborhood. Graeter’s broke ground on its 17th Cincinnati area location this week on Vine and 14th in Over-The-Rhine.

“I  love OTR,” said Richard Graeter, fourth-generation and CEO of the 143 year old company. “I have been impressed by 3CDC’s leadership to  revitalize the area and am excited to open a store in such a vibrant urban community.”

This location will be the first to incorporate new store branding elements created by Cincinnati-based BDR Design Group. Some of the updates include the menu board, seating, tables and lights. Another major difference will be the addition of an espresso bar to help attract late night guests.

“At just over 1,000 square feet, this is our smallest store footprint,” said Chip Graeter, fourth-generation owner in charge of all of Graeter’s retail stores “and due to the store’s small size, we will not have bakery goods at this location. “Instead, the store in historic OTR will hearken back to the early 1900’s when my great-grandparents ran an ice cream parlor not far from this location.

The OTR Graeter’s will feature a traditional ice cream fountain and assortment of fine candies. Graeter’s anticipates a December 2013 opening.
