Fillo Modern Greek Announces Dinner Service with Prix-Fixe Mezze Menu at Soft Opening

CINCINNATI (July 28, 2023) – Originally opened in 2021 as a bakery-café that featured lunch and brunch only, family-owned and operated Over-the-Rhine eatery, Fillo Modern Greek, will officially open for dinner beginning next week. A two-week soft opening is set to begin Thursday, Aug. 3, and patrons are invited to dine by reservation only.

The heart of Fillo’s dinner menu lies in its Mezedes – traditional Greek small plates designed for sharing and celebrating the joys of togetherness. From classic favorites like tzatziki and spicy feta dip to irresistible beet salad, each meze bursts with the authentic flavors of Greece, prepared with love and care.

Fillo’s dinner service will feature a prix-fixe meze style menu, spotlighting traditional Greek hot and cold dishes. These small plates are meant to be shared among the table, encouraging conversation and a memorable dining experience.

As Fillo expands its operating hours, it will maintain customer favorites, such as the popular chicken souvlaki, while introducing exciting new dishes. The prix-fixe dinner menu will offer a curated selection of Greek mezedes, providing diners an opportunity to experience a wider range of Fillo’s culinary repertoire. Following the two week soft opening, dinner service will continue featuring Greek favorites such as grilled octopus and calamari.

“We have been eager for Fillo to become a place where people can come in the evenings for a traditional Greek dinner right here in OTR,” Evan Papanikolaou, chef and owner of Fillo, said. “I’ve been asked numerous times if Fillo would ever be open for dinner, and the time has finally come.”

The new dinner menu will highlight traditional Greek favorites like tzatziki, tirokafteri, and moussaka. It will also feature modern takes on Greek classics such as fried feta with hot honey syrup and grilled shrimp over pesto couscous. A thoughtfully selected Greek wine list, and a range of cocktails will accompany these dishes. Dinner will conclude on a sweet note, with a sampling of Fillo’s baklava – featuring both saragli and nest styles, as well as the delicious syrupy semolina cake, ravani.

“We’re hopeful that introducing dinner service will offer a whole new audience the opportunity to experience Fillo’s authentic Greek cuisine, which has earned rave reviews since the restaurant first opened in late 2021” said Joe Rudemiller, VP of Marketing and Communications for Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC), Fillo’s landlord.

During the soft opening, dinner will be served from Thursday to Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fillo will temporarily pause its lunch service to focus on the dinner roll-out, with plans to resume at a later date. However, brunch service will continue to be available on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 11 a.m.
