‘Something to Wine About’ to Celebrate Soft Opening on Friday
CINCINNATI (November 25, 2024) – Orlando “Lando” Chapman, Sr., founder of RilEntertainment, will celebrate the soft opening of his self-service wine bar – Something to Wine About – on Friday, followed by a grand opening on Saturday, December 7. Located in a 3,580-square-foot space in Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC)’s 4th & Race development, Something to Wine About is the newest addition to the Fountain District – and a welcoming space for anyone who loves wine.
Known for curating events and entertainment for Cincinnati’s 30-and-over community, Chapman’s new concept features self-pour wine machines in addition to a full-service bar. Patrons simply purchase a reloadable card when they arrive, and then swipe the card to use the self-service machines during their visit. In addition to drinks, cold finger foods, like charcuterie and pinwheel sandwiches, will also be available.
Chapman will also utilize the platform to highlight African American and other minority-owned winemakers in his space. Currently, 300 bottles of ‘Eric the Red’ Wine, by former Cincinnati Reds outfielder Eric Davis, are available for presale at https://www.itssomethingtowineabout.com. Just before the grand opening on December 7, Something to Wine About will host a special event from 3PM – 6PM where patrons can meet Eric Davis and have their bottle signed.
“Having the ability to highlight Black wine and spirit makers, as well as other minorities, in my space is such a privilege,” Chapman said. “I can’t wait to see people here, experiencing old school music while they relax and sip wines they may not find elsewhere.
Something to Wine About will host a number of regular events including a book club and live performances by national recording artists, as well as up-and-coming jazz and old-school R&B musicians. The wine bar’s monthly ‘Wine-O’ memberships will also include access to exclusive events, in-label wines, merchandise discounts and more. Anyone who registers for a monthly ‘Wine-O’ membership this week is invited to attend the soft opening on Friday beginning at 7 PM. Guests will enjoy early access to the wine bar, music, light bites and more. Registration is available on the Something to Wine About website.
“Lando has a proven track record in connecting with and entertaining the 30-and-over crowd in Downtown Cincinnati and Something to Wine About will expand his platform for doing so,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Commercial Leasing Director with 3CDC. “With Love on Fourth, Baru, Tokyo Kitty and more just down the street, this is a fantastic location in the Fountain District for a self-service wine bar. Patrons will have multiple options for dinner, drinks and dancing all within walking distance of one another.”
Something to Wine About will open its doors to the public Saturday, December 7 at 7 PM. Reservations are available on the Something to Wine About website. Following the grand opening, the wine bar will commence normal operating hours as outlined below:
- Sunday: 11AM-7PM
- Monday – Thursday: 11AM – 10PM
- Friday & Saturday: 11AM – Midnight
