Demolition work on the convention center is moving forward on the building’s exterior and interior in equal measure. Construction crews are continuing to carefully remove the Albee Arch from the building’s Fifth Street façade and transporting the structure to a city-owned storage location. East of the Albee Arch, façade demolition is progressing down Fifth Street. Workers are building temporary walls to safeguard the building’s interior until the construction of the new façade. On the building’s interior, selective architectural demolition is ongoing, including drain replacement in the Exhibit Halls and mechanical demolition in the basement. The next step in the reimagined Convention District, Elm Street Plaza, is slated to break ground in early September.
