OTR Boutique Owner Celebrates 10 Years in Business With Exciting Addition
Café Continuum Now Open on Vine Street
CINCINNATI (June 3, 2025) – Owner Ericka Leighton-Spradlin, who opened Continuum at 1407 Vine Street 10 years ago, recently expanded her Over-the-Rhine (OTR) storefront to include the space at 1405 Vine Street. Both spaces are being leased from Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC). The new space is home to Café Continuum – an immersive, intentional café concept featuring a consciously selected assortment of small bites, pastries, coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages in addition to small housewares and a variety of other items.
Following a decade of success at Continuum, an eclectic concept shop featuring a curated selection of clothing, housewares and more by independent designers and makers, Leighton-Spradlin was inspired to bring something new to OTR. With past experience as a barista and a dream to open her own coffee shop, she jumped at the opportunity to expand her storefront when the neighboring space to Continuum became available.
“My greatest inspiration for the expansion has been to create an uplifting experience that lightens the load of being human and accentuates the joys of being; here and now, a deep appreciation for the present moment,” Leighton-Spradlin said.
When deciding on a name for the café, ‘Here and Now’ was a big contender. A reference to a quote from her favorite Aldous Huxley book, Island, she ultimately decided to extend the Continuum name to the café.
The 1,147-square-foot coffee shop is an inspiring space that aims to cultivate a deeper sense of connection to the moment. It is quaint and cozy, featuring artwork from Archived Interiors and Jack Wood Gallery, as well as custom interior details by Four Eyes Ceramics.
“In just the last few weeks, we’ve seen two of our longest-standing commercial tenants announce sizable storefront expansions and introduce new and exciting concepts to the neighborhood,” said Christy Samad, Executive Vice President of Civic & Commercial Space Activation for 3CDC. “This is the type of growth we strive for, and having worked with Ericka for over a decade, we are confident she will be just as successful in the food & beverage space as she has been in retail.”
Café Continuum quietly celebrated its soft opening earlier this month, inviting friends, family and neighbors alike to check out the space, grab a drink and enjoy a treat. Moving forward, the café will be open Thursday thru Sunday from 8AM to 2PM with a menu that features Deeper Roots Coffee, Masha Tea, and a variety of pastries from Cincinnati’s El Camino Baking Company.
