Crossroad Health Center’s New Home Commemorated with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Project Partners Celebrate the Building’s $14.6 Million Transformation into A Modern Health Care Facility

CINCINNATI (April 28, 2026) – Leaders from the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC), Crossroad Health Center, and other project partners and key stakeholders gathered this morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Crossroad Health Center’s new 21,500-square-foot facility, a $14.6 million transformation of the former OTR Recreation Center.

The ceremony took place at the facility’s primary entrance, where project partners and civic leaders ─ including City Manager Sheryl Long and Crossroad Health Center CEO Jamie Berrens ─ reflected on the project’s importance, Crossroad’s accessible, comprehensive health care services, and North OTR’s bright future ahead. The event concluded with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

“At Crossroad Health Center, we strive to treat the whole person ─ body, mind, and spirit,” said Jamie Berrens, Chief Executive Officer for Crossroad Health Center. “With our new facility, we can do this on a larger scale, treating more patients at once and providing additional services like a pharmacy, and in the future, dental care.”

“Cincinnati is continuing to invest in the health and well-being of its neighborhoods, and this project is an important step forward for Over-the-Rhine,” said City Manager Sheryl Long.

Crossroad, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), has been providing affordable, accessible, and high-quality health care to the Over-the-Rhine (OTR) community for over 30 years. Faced with space constraints, outdated building functionality, and patient access difficulties at its former location at the corner of Liberty and Vine streets, Crossroad required a new home to support its continued growth and better meet patient needs. The new facility significantly expands Crossroad’s capacity to serve the community, increasing the number of exam rooms from 14 to 18 and allowing the organization to boost its annual patient capacity from 4,000 to 6,000. Additionally, as part of the redevelopment, the historic clock tower atop the building was restored and is now fully operational, with restoration work completed by The Verdin Company.

The project is part of a broader $100 million transformational development plan being executed between the City of Cincinnati, 3CDC, and several additional partners to strengthen and revitalize the OTR neighborhood north of Liberty Street.

“This project reflects a meaningful investment in Crossroad Health Center and the North OTR neighborhood,” said Katie Westbrook, Executive Vice President of Development for 3CDC. “The facility not only expands access to essential health care but also contributes to the long-term strength and vitality of the community.”

To further improve accessibility, the project also yielded a 109-space parking lot, known as Findlay Lot, which will serve patients, staff, the future Findlay Community Hub (currently under construction), and the general public. The parking lot is owned by the City of Cincinnati and managed by 3CDC.

Construction on Crossroad Health Center began in June 2025, with 3CDC as the developer, Triversity as the construction manager, and City Studios Architecture leading the project design, working in collaboration with Platte Architecture & Design. 3CDC completed the project on behalf of Crossroad Health Center and the City of Cincinnati, with several organizations contributing to the financial viability of the project. In addition to Crossroad Health Center providing $2 million in project equity and the City of Cincinnati committing over $4.6 million in necessary project funding, $4.3 million in New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) equity was generated by Truist and Corporation for Supportive Housing’s collective $14 million NMTC allocation. Over $4.6 million has also been raised in private philanthropy and grants from both the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Ohio Department of Development, with additional support provided by The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority.

Crossroad will begin serving patients at its new facility on Monday, May 4, with an open house to welcome the community on Thursday, May 14, from 4 – 7 p.m.
