California Natives Set Opening Date for Brand New Concept

CINCINNATI (March 11, 2026) – After relocating to Cincinnati in 2021, where they have lived and worked for over five years, California natives Rodney and Janine De Iorio have signed a lease for the space at 34 E. Court Street. The storefront is part of Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC)’s Court Street Condos project. Later this month, the couple will debut Brewd — a combined coffee shop and tap house — inside the 2,200‑square‑foot storefront.

A long-time dream for the couple, the Brewd concept was inspired by the commonalities of coffee and beer culture – and the idea that the fusion of the two could foster connection.

“We wanted to create a place where you could enjoy coffee in the morning and a beer in the evening — a space that would bring people together and turn strangers into neighbors,” said Brewd co‑owner Janine De Iorio. “We spent a lot of time researching what today’s third spaces are missing, and we’ve been very intentional about creating an environment that will fill that gap.”

Brewd will offer locally roasted coffee from La Terza, tea from Churchill’s Fine Teas and a rotating collection of Cincinnati brews across 18 taps, including Cincinnati favorites and neighborhood staples like Rhinegeist, Brink, Bocce, Westside, and HighGrain, among others. Co-owner Rodney De Iorio has also curated a hot food menu from family recipes that pay homage to their Southern California upbringing. Highlights include California-style breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and carne asada fries. Brewd will also offer an assortment of bakery items.

Aside from being a place to enjoy quality hot and cold beverages, Brewd will serve as a hub for connection. The space will host a variety of events and activations, from board games and puzzles to Profs + Pints – an organization that hosts casual, expert-led lectures by college professors in bars, breweries, and cafes. Through these gatherings, Brewd aims to create a warm, welcoming environment where neighbors can come together and grow their “brood” on Court Street.

The space will boast an elevated, yet cozy vibe with “rustic meets industrial” décor, and natural colors and neutral tones throughout. They are working with INDIO on the overall design and layout of the space.

Brewd will join a diverse lineup of businesses on Court Street Plaza, including Afterlife, Mid‑City Restaurant, Daruma, Onolicious Hawaii, Court Street Kitchen, and Pata Roja, among others. The plaza underwent a major revitalization in 2019, transforming it into a more pedestrian‑friendly destination and creating expanded opportunities for outdoor dining. Since 2021, Court Street Plaza has also served as the home of Asian Food Fest — Cincinnati’s popular and fast‑growing celebration of Asian cuisine and culture.

The De Iorios plan to host a soft launch in April, followed by a grand opening at a later date. Event details will be shared as they are finalized. Brewd is currently working to build its team and will hold open interviews for bartenders, baristas, and cooks tomorrow, March 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 34 E Court Street.
