CINCINNATI CONVENTION CENTER
In April, the reimagined convention center crossed the halfway point of the 18-month project period as spring ushered in warmer temperatures and excellent progress on both the interior and exterior construction work. Crews are continuing to install the new curtain wall along Fifth Street, which provides weather protection and aesthetic appeal, among other benefits, while not bearing any structural load. As the new façade nears completion, crews are removing the temporary walls that were constructed during demolition to protect the building interior from the elements. Crews are continuing to rough in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the building while also beginning work on interior finishes.
At Elm Street Plaza, work on the new pavilion bar and ancillary buildings is ongoing. Crews are also continuing underground work and installing tanks for future interactive fountains. FINDLAY COMMUNITY CENTER
3CDC is the developer for the new Findlay Community Center, working on behalf of the City of Cincinnati and in collaboration with Skanska as the construction manager and Moody Nolan, who is leading project design, among other partners. Upon completion, the brand-new facility will feature two levels of recreation and multi-purpose space totaling over 60,000 SF, an 8,000 SF early learning childcare center for children ages six weeks through preschool, and an outdoor space with a play area, seating, grills, and a dog park. In addition to the childcare center, the first-floor layout includes a gym, indoor pool, roller rink, locker rooms, multi-purpose rooms, and a child-watch area. Floor two will feature a walking and running track, a fitness area with cardio and stretching equipment as well as free weights, group exercise rooms, and a rooftop field. This design plan is the result of extensive community engagement, which started in 2021 and is still ongoing.
The City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Recreation Commission, 3CDC, and our project partners are planning a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the start of construction on the new Findlay Community Center. The event will take place at Findlay Playground on May 6 at 1PM and feature brief remarks from several project partners. PAYCOR HEADQUARTERS
In early April, State of Play Hospitality, the international social entertainment operator behind a number of premium, tech-enabled concepts, announced it has signed a lease for Flight Club in the 6,000-square-foot street-level commercial space at the Paycor Headquarters mixed-use development. Flight Club Cincinnati, which is expected to open later this year, will offer guests a unique and upscale entertainment environment, blending craft cocktails, elevated cuisine, and its signature Social Darts® gaming. The new bar will join Chef Jose Salazar’s eponymous restaurant below Paycor’s new 40,000-square-foot headquarters.
The construction team has largely completed the exterior façade work, which includes installing all of the terracotta accent tiles. Work on the new sidewalk and streetscape is progressing on track around the building. A new curb was recently set along Fifth Street, and underground electrical work is in progress. On the building’s interior, construction on both Salazar and Paycor’s office space is now underway.
