Idlewild Announces Grand Opening of New Concept Store
CINCINNATI (April 23, 2025) – Known for its designer collections and modern point of view, Idlewild is expanding its Over-the-Rhine (OTR) storefront to include FORM – a new concept store opening next door to its original Vine Street location. Owner Tessa Clark recently signed a lease to expand into the space, situated at 1232 Vine Street, allowing the business to expand its footwear offerings, dive deeper into storytelling-driven merchandising, and showcase artful products to spark curiosity.
Originally opened more than 10 years ago, Idlewild has become a neighborhood go-to for independent brands and high-end fashion that are hard to find in Ohio, grounding itself in timeless wardrobe staples. Now, FORM will join the boutique, leaning more into the artful side of fashion and design, creating a space where style, space and objects are meant to be explored.
“FORM was created as a natural extension of Idlewild,” Clark said. “It was born from the same point of view but designed to explore a different side of the story. The expanded space will hold more avant-garde pieces, art objects and shoes.”
After more than a decade, Idlewild began to outgrow its original storefront, and Clark knew that an expansion was imminent. She and her team had dreamt of expanding into the space at 1232 Vine for some time, recalling that an original archway connected the two spaces. When the former tenant’s lease ended, Clark jumped at the opportunity to take over the space, which is owned by Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC).
“Since we first partnered with Tessa over ten years ago, we’ve watched Idlewild grow into an OTR staple with a consistent client base,” said Christy Samad, Executive Vice President of Civic & Commercial Space Activation for 3CDC. “Success like this is so inspiring and we are confident that FORM will add even more vibrancy to the neighborhood, joining a number of high fashion retailers nearby. The corner of Vine Street that FORM will occupy sees significant foot traffic and it was crucial to re-activate this space with a tenant we knew could bring it to life.”
The storefronts for Idlewild and FORM are connected, creating one large space where shoppers can experience both stores in one stop. FORM will celebrate its grand opening over two days, beginning Friday at 11AM to coincide with Final Friday – a once-a-month event where artists at Pendleton Art Center open their studios to the public and participating OTR businesses stay open from 5 – 9 PM and feature artists, musicians, and complementary refreshments.
