New Shop Will Be Third Location for Vintage Clothing Retailer
CINCINNATI (Friday, October 31, 2014) – Vintage clothing shop, and purveyor of all things retro, Homage will be holding the grand opening of its new Over-the-Rhine (OTR) shop this Saturday at 10 a.m. The new retail store – a nearly 1,300-square-foot space located at 1232 Vine Street – will be Homage’s third brick-and-mortar location, and first in Cincinnati.
Evolving from owner Ryan Vesler’s love for clothing with a history behind it, Homage actually has quite a story of its own. Originally started in Vesler’s parents’ basement as an online T-shirt business in 2007, Homage developed such a following on the web that it opened its first storefront in 2010, in his hometown of Columbus. Two years later, with business booming, Homage opened a second shop in Columbus – this time at Easton Town Center. The brand has continued to grow, to the point that in addition to opening a third store, Homage’s clothing is being worn by everyone from professional athletes to famous musicians.
Homage considered Cincinnati, Cleveland and Pittsburgh as potential locations for its first retail shop outside of Columbus. The company ultimately settled on OTR, primarily because of the historic area’s intrinsic connection with the Homage brand.
“As a brand that focuses on authenticity and storytelling, we felt that there was no better place for our first shop outside of our hometown than OTR,” said Nate Ellis, Director of Marketing for Homage. “As a historic district, OTR is unparalleled, and with the arts scene, architecture, history and character here, it was just a perfect fit.”
Primarily known for selling vintage shirts that feature sports teams or pop culture themes, Homage’s retail locations also sell an experience, highlighted by an old-time Coke machine filled with 12-oz glass bottles and the classic NBA Jam arcade game. These two popular features, which have been a hit in both Columbus stores, will also be present at the new OTR shop.
To celebrate the OTR location’s grand opening, Homage will be offering a limited edition bag and T-shirt to the first 100 customers through the door.
Following the grand opening, normal store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 6 p.m. For more information, visit Homage’s website at www.homage.com.
